Richard Breakie
From Facebook:
After battling illnesses for too many years, my brilliant business partner, loyal dear friend and loved husband passed away peacefully in Arbor Hospice yesterday. At his request, there will be no funeral service. However, in the future, he did want his family and friends to gather at the club that he loved, the Huron River Hunting & Fishing Club, "for a good meal and fine drink on me". A great Doggy Daddy and Dog Rescuer, may Lucy and the rest of our kids meet him in heaven.
From the newspaper:
Richard A. Breakie Born, March 3, 1947, and passed way October 1, 2022 at the age 75.
Beloved husband of Linda for 32 years. He will be missed by his loyal rescue dogs, Sully and Tucker. Son of the late Allan and Nila. Son-in-law of Loretta Miller. Brother of Janice (Reuben) Eliuk and the late Ronald.
Brother-in-law of Thomas (Susan) Miller and Robert (Therese) Miller. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Richard was a patriot who volunteered for the draft and served in the Army in Vietnam. After an honorable discharge, Richard received a BBA from WMU and was a healthcare executive. Later he started two successful healthcare companies. Volunteering in dog rescue, Richard advocated for adopting rather than shopping for pets, and transported dogs to foster and adoptive homes.
A memorial luncheon will be held at a later date.
